I had heard of Joe Grimm, recruiter and development editor at the Detriot Free Press, since I first got into journalism in high school. When I attended a college journalism conference in St. Louis, Mo., last fall, I didn't just get to watch the Cardinals win the World Series — this future Chipster met the Grimmster.
I had an interview with Grimm for internship opportunities with the Free Press, and even though I was rejected, he kept in touch with me all the way through. And he gave me great advice on the industry in general.
Today, he joined our meager copy-editing group and once again gave fabulous insight into internships, jobs and how to make the most of saving your salary.
The best part: He remembered me. But given his reputation, why would I have ever doubted it?
